Appointments Feedback

Thank you to all who have phoned through nominating to fill unappointed positions. I have used a first in best dressed appoach here.

All appointments should be visible to you by Wednesday evenings at the latest each week. They are sometimes there before this. Please check again later in the week, as games sometimes change. Confirm your appointments each night if you can, just to be sure? If there is a need to change appointments after finalisation, we will try and notifiy you.

We would also like to explain a few issues regarding appointments so you all have a better understanding, more pertaining to our new referees.

Our first task when appointing referees to games is to get the most suitable referees on every game, so the higher in the divisions, both senior and junior, the more experienced the team needs to be, to meet and deal with the anticipated challenges. All referees are graded and sit on a panel which we use to determine the level of game most appropriate for their refereeing competency and age.

Our next task is to then ensure we get referees to every game from Grade 10 through to seniors. What then needs to be factored in to this is each individuals availability – what team they are playing for, where do you live, what is a fair distance to expect to travel. I am sure you can appreciate the enormity of this task on a weekly basis.

For those juniors who are playing as well as refereeing (which is great) the opportunities to get you ALL a game each Saturday morning does not always present itself easily.

Similarly, on Saturday afternoons, there are only so many games in one area, and in some of those areas we now have more referees than games available, so small amounts of travel are going to be expected to complete our appointment priorities. In other areas, we have no referees, so referees are going to need to travel to fill those games.

I ask that you please consider any travel involved in your appointments as a season, not just a week or month, or week to week, as the travel should balance itself out by the end of the year. If you are appointned to games that you cannot fulfil, and accidents can happen, please contact the referees mobile as soon as possible.

As the weeks go by, we get a better profile of each individual which makes the appointments task easier.

I hope this explains just a few things with regards appointments.
