Local Refs Appointed to National Match Officials Panel
Referees on the Far North Coast have been recognised Nationally this week, with current and former members being appointed onto National match officials panels.
This week, Football Federation Australia confirmed current Far North Coast Referees member Luke Mackney and former member Ben Haigh (who now officiates in Queensland), have both been appointed onto the National Youth League Match Officials panel for the upcoming 2009/2010 season.
As well as this, Tanya De Boer (who moved to Newcastle earlier this year) this week received the news that she has once again been appointed onto the Westfield W-League Match Officials panel, after being appointed onto the Assistant Referees panel for last years inaugural season.
Far North Coast Referees President, David Nolan, was exstatic upon hearing the news. “This is great recognition for these three outstanding individuals and proves the quality of the talent that exists in our area”, he said.
“Luke has done alot of work on and off the field over many seasons and has already had a great year in 2009 and he thoroughly deserves this latest accolade.”
“Tanya, as well as being highly regarded locally, was one of the leading assistant referees in last year’s W-League, so it’s no surprise she’s been selected again this year”.
“Also, it’s great to hear that Ben has also been selected. Ben showed a lot of promise as a referee before he moved to Queensland and he has obviously continued to work hard and perform well over the last few years”.
The National Youth League is set to kick-off on September 11th and the opening match of the Westfield W-League is scheduled for October 3rd.
