Girls Perform Well At National Championships

Tanisha Walker, Louise Farrell & Anna Hutchinson at the Westfield Girls National Youth Championships last week
Last week three of our leading young female referees officiated at the Westfield Girls National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.
Louise Farrell, Anna Hutchinson and Tanisha Walker were three of four referees selected by Northern NSW Football to be part of 20 referees who were selected from around Australia to officiate at the tournament.
The girls officiated on a number of games throughout the week, receiving some very positive feedback after each game, and for their efforts they were each selected to officiate on a major semi-final. Louise was selected as an Assistant Referee for the Under 17’s Girls semi-final, while Anna and Tanisha were each selected to officiate on the Under 15’s Girls semi-final.
Anna and Tanisha spoke about their experience at our General Meeting on Tuesday night and told members that they learnt alot during the week and appreciated the opportunity to receive extra coaching and feedback on their refereeing.
President, David Nolan said “the girls selection on finals matches was a good recognition of the commitment and outstanding qualities that all three girls possess and it’s further proof that many opportunities exist for young referees who are eager and show potential”.
