This week the Westfield Girls National Youth Championships are being played at BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour and three of our referees have been selected to officiate at the tournament, which runs from Saturday 11 July to Saturday 18 July.

Anna Hutchinson, Louise Farrell and Tanisha Walker were selected by Northern NSW Football to officiate at the tournament and they make up three out of the four referees who were selected from Northern NSW. The girls will be part of 20 referees who have been selected from across Australia to officiate on the Under 15’s and Under 17’s girls matches at the tournament.

This is the girls first National Championships and all have admitted a mix of nerves but excitement at taking to the field for such a prestigious junior tournament. “It’s going to be a great learning experience and so far, even after day one, it’s been fantastic with the build up and preparation for the tournament”, Walker said.

During the tournament all the referees will be assessed by Referee Inspectors from around Australia and they will receive feedback after every match during a debrief that is conducted each day with the referees after all their appointments are completed.
